A horizontal band crossed its center with the word MERCYHURST. The white uppercase letters were placed on a dark blue banner background. The typeface, in the grotesque category with pronounced stroke thickness, was similar to Helvetica Bold or Impact.

The inscription consists of two text levels arranged in a diagonal pattern. The upper level contains the word “MERCYHURST,” written in uppercase with compact proportions. The lower level is reserved for the word LAKERS, which is visually larger and heavier, forming a hierarchy between the university name and the athletic brand. The text’s rightward slant reinforces associations with speed and competitive energy, conveying determination and drive.
The typeface is a sans-serif. The letter outlines are solid, without serifs or roundings, and closely resemble the athletic style of Athletic Block. The main field of the letters is green, the outline is white, and the background is a dark blue.
