nu metal Logos and Brands
The nu metal genre, which blends heavy guitar with hip-hop, electronica, and turntablism, unites the brands in the Nu Metal section. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Slipknot, and Deftones defined the sound of the late 1990s and early 2000s, and their logos became attributes of a generation that wore baggy JNCO pants and chains on their wallets. Linkin Park, with its “soldier” (a stylized LP figure) and Slipknot, with its nonagram, created visual symbols that transcended the musical context and became markers of youth subculture. This section brings together the emblems of bands whose peak commercial success coincided with the era of MTV and Total Request Live, when nu metal dominated the global charts.
