Research In Motion Logos and Brands
The Canadian company Research in Motion, later renamed BlackBerry Limited, defines the theme of the “Research In Motion” section. Founded in 1984 by Mike Lazaridis and Douglas Fregin in Waterloo, Ontario, RIM created the BlackBerry line of smartphones, which dominated the corporate mobile communications market in the 2000s. The RIM logo and the BlackBerry symbol with two letters “B” became symbols of an era when physical QWERTY keyboards and secure corporate email defined the standard for business communication. After losing market share to the iPhone and Android, the company changed its name and refocused on cybersecurity and software for autonomous vehicles.
