West Bromwich Logos and Brands
The town of West Bromwich in the West Midlands and the football club of the same name, West Bromwich Albion, define the content of the “West Bromwich” section. Founded in 1878, the club is one of the twelve founders of the English Football League in 1888. The emblem with a blackbird on a hawthorn branch (a reference to the nickname “The Baggies” and the club’s location at Hawthorns) has undergone several revisions over a century and a half. The Hawthorns stadium seats over 26,000 spectators and is the heart of a city whose industrial history is linked to metallurgy and spring manufacturing. The logos in this section reflect the club’s and the city’s identities, where football remains the main unifying force for the working community of the Black Country.
