Vertu phone owners enjoy additional bespoke services, such as a dedicated concierge service, enhancing their overall experience. The unique combination of luxury and tailored services has led to Vertu’s mobile phones being classified as ultra-luxury items, with prices ranging from $5,000 to over $10,000. Despite this, Vertu has struggled to capture a significant share of the luxury phone market due to the exceedingly high price tags.
In 2012, Vertu was spun off from Nokia and acquired by Eqtun, a Hong Kong investment group, in 2015. Regrettably, under Eqtun’s ownership, the company faced financial difficulties leading to its liquidation in 2017.
The Vertu brand did not end there. In the same year, Hakan Uzan, a Turkish businessman, acquired the brand’s assets and orchestrated a relaunch. Currently, Vertu offers a range of newly designed Android models like Vertu Aster P, with prices around $4,200.
In the luxury phone sector, Vertu faces stiff competition from other high-end phone makers like Porsche Design and Louis Vuitton, who also seek to attract ultra-luxury clientele.
