Known throughout the world, warm winter down jackets, called “Alaskas,” are the product of the world leader in tailoring outerwear – Canada Goose, also known as Outfitters Goose. Such clothing gained fame after it was used as workwear by polar scientists, thanks to the use of a unique technology in the manufacture of Canadian parkas with a high degree of heat conservation. The company’s first products came out in 1957, immediately after registering its name by Sam Thicke’s founder as METRO SPORTWEAR. Its main product was woolen clothing.

Only in the early 70s, David Rice, having married Sam’s daughter, redirected production to the manufacture of workwear for Canadian foresters, police officers, and employees of environmental protection companies, from whom the first orders were received. Quickly earning recognition for its products, first in the Scandinavian countries, and only in 1998 in Canada, in 2000, she carried out a radical rebranding, changing her name to Canada Goose, to make herself known worldwide. This led to the need to create a bright and attractive emblem. The sharply increased demand for warm clothes of this brand has led to a large number of low-quality fakes under the company logo. The rapid growth of online trading platforms contributed to their mass distribution. This led to the search for new solutions to protect their products. In 2011, an expensive company was completed to develop a special holographic code that could not be counterfeited.

Meaning and History

Canada Goose Symbol

Since the transfer of business by Sam Thicke to his son-in-law and the opening of the central office in Toronto, the company has specialized in the manufacture of warm outerwear – down jackets, ordinary insulated jackets, vests, hats, gloves, and much more, which helps to keep people warm not only in a harsh northern climate. At this time, David Rice renames the company Snow Goose, paying tribute to the bird that provides warmth to these clothes and indicates its direction.

For the first time, the company’s products were talked about worldwide after the conquest of Everest by the Canadian Laurie Skreslet. The “big mountain” model was developed in collaboration with a climber. This model became the prototype of the most popular Skerslet Parka jacket of 2011.

An important difference between the company’s products is their naturalness. As a heater, natural fluff and feathers of birds – ducks, geese are used. If the model is made with a fringe or collar, then natural furs are always used here – the warmest coyote or arctic fox fur. Interesting in the company’s production is the use of the achievements of modern technologies, which ensured its full automation. Human participation in it is limited only to controlling functions. Such a modern approach makes the original clothing of the company unique – the accuracy and accuracy of the seams, the strictly calculated amount of fluff depending on the size of the product is provided by computerized robots. The human factor is completely removed from this process.

Having gained worldwide fame, the products began to enter the European market, where they faced a new problem – an already existing brand with the same name. To conquer the European market in 1990, it was decided to rename the company to Canada Goose. This name began to be used for products shipped to Europe. In Canada, the brand is sold under its old name.

During the same period, parkas became a popular and fashionable type of clothing for extreme recreation, casual wear, which began to be worn by popular media personalities. It began to be shown by the most famous actors of world cinema in films, for example, in “The Day After Tomorrow” all the scientists of the film were dressed in products manufactured by the company. The producers of computer games do not lag behind the film industry, dressing their heroes in such jackets, where the traced Canada Goose emblem confirms the preferences of publishers.

The growth in popularity led to expanding the company to Europe and other countries of the world. For this purpose, a regional representative office was opened in Stockholm, whose tasks included controlling and creating conditions for promoting the company in various countries of Europe and the world. To ensure the effectiveness of achieving the set goal, in 2011, the company included Engineered, which was engaged in the sale of Canada Goose products in Europe for a long time.

In addition to producing warm clothes, Canada Goose leads an active social life. She participates and finances various activities to protect northern animals, participates and organizes many charity events, and collects funds to support zoos. Today the company is run by the founder’s grandson, Dani Reis. He completed the evolution of the company, creating a single global brand under the common European name – Canada Goose, making the inscription Made in Canada on the emblem. Thus, he patriotically announced that all the company’s products are manufactured at facilities located in Canada.

The company tried to reflect the direction of its activities and the manufacturer’s nationality in its emblem, where each symbol is chosen for this very purpose, as well as to create a unique and recognizable brand everywhere.

Canada Goose Emblem

Each product of the company differs in quality, even in small things. This also applies to emblems. The company’s modern label is graphically clear, with high-quality color reproduction and detailed rendering of each element, for example, small maple leaves – the symbols of Canada. The new emblem is a circle, the circumference of which is made in bright red. Its inner space has a white background and a circle of smaller diameter, whose circumference is also drawn in bright red, and the background is made in dark blue. Inside it, the contours of Canada are made, filled in with white. Red rays evenly depart from it – meridians, originating from a small red circle, a stylized star with four large rays radiating from the edge of the circle in 4 directions perpendicular to each other between the right angles of which there are three small rays.

On the white field between the edge of the main circle and the middle circle in the upper part along the arc, the company’s name is made in the same bright red in capital letters. In the lower part, there is an inscription ARCTIC PROGRAM / Between these inscriptions on the sides in the same field where the texts are located; there is an image of the symbol of Canada – maple leaves, five pieces on each side, in the bright red colors of the Canadian flag.
