Sri Lanka Logos and Brands
The island nation of Sri Lanka, located in the Indian Ocean off the southern tip of India, defines the context of the “Sri Lanka” section. The lion with a sword, the central motif of the national flag and coat of arms, permeates the emblems of state institutions, cricket teams, and sports federations. Sri Lankan Airlines, tea companies (Ceylon Tea), and tourist offices feature images of tropical nature, ancient temples, and plantation landscapes in their logos, linking their brands to the cultural heritage of a country known worldwide as Ceylon until it was renamed in 1972. Cricket is the national sport, and the Sri Lankan national team’s emblem, featuring a golden lion, has become one of the most recognizable in international cricket.
