Center of Love: Brand overview

The Center of Family Love was established in 1981 in Okarche, Oklahoma, by members of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Church. Initially serving approximately 20 individuals, the organization provided professional care to residents with physical and intellectual disabilities.

In 1985, vocational training was introduced, providing workshops and practical skill-building opportunities for residents. Significant infrastructure improvements took place between 1987 and 1990, including the construction of new residential facilities and the implementation of a comprehensive healthcare program that featured therapeutic services.

Throughout the 1990s, the center expanded with support from donors and charities and, in 1995, launched innovative therapy programs, including dance, painting, and music. By the early 2000s, specialized programs addressing autism and Down syndrome were introduced, and a vocational training center opened in 2003.

A major development occurred in 2010 with the establishment of a medical wing equipped with advanced rehabilitation technology, thereby enhancing the quality of care for residents. Between 2015 and 2020, new employment initiatives and collaborations with local businesses expanded vocational opportunities.

By 2023, the organization supported over 100 residents and continued modernization efforts to improve living conditions. Entering 2024, the center remains committed to providing lifelong care and professional support, upholding the principles of compassion established over the past four decades.

Center of Love Logo

The idea of creating the Center of Family Love originated with the Knights of Columbus and parents of adults with intellectual disabilities, who sought to establish an environment centered on care, warmth, and the Christian faith. The mission of the center is to support and serve individuals with special needs, and the logo visually expresses this goal.

The composition of the sign is centered on the heart symbol. It is divided vertically into two equal parts, and in the middle, negative space forms a cross. The design combines two meanings: the heart conveys love and care, while the cross signifies the spiritual foundation of the center’s work and its connection to Christian values.

The text block organizes the perception of the logo. The words “CENTER” and “FAMILY LOVE” are executed in a heavy, grotesque font with straight, strict lines. They create a sense of seriousness and stability. Between them is the word “of” set in italics. Its lighter plasticity softens the composition and adds emotional closeness. In the lower row is the explanation “SERVING THE INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED THROUGH CHRIST.” It is typed in a neat, thin, grotesque font that serves an informative function without excessive dominance, allowing the focus to remain on the main name.

The logo’s color palette is based on turquoise and gray. The heart symbol is painted in a calm, turquoise shade associated with peace, care, and warmth. The gray text color conveys restraint and respect, shaping the image of an organization operating in the social and spiritual spheres.

The composition ultimately unites mercy, faith, and social responsibility. The Center of Love logo conveys the supportive atmosphere the center strives to create for its wards while preserving its connection to the organization’s spiritual roots and mission.
