Heroic Ventures: Brand overview

Michael Fertik and Matt Robinson founded Heroic Ventures in Palo Alto, California, in 2016. The firm focused on first-check and seed investments, backing startups before larger funds entered. Fertik brought experience from TruExchange and Reputation.com, founded in 2006, while Robinson joined as managing partner. The fund concentrated on Silicon Valley, Colorado, and Israel, with interests in software, fintech, robotics, digital services, and life sciences.

One early investment was Scalyr, which raised $20 million in November 2017 in a round led by Shasta Ventures with participation from Heroic Ventures and Susa Ventures. SentinelOne agreed to acquire Scalyr for $155 million in February 2021, giving the fund a documented exit.

Heroic Ventures later backed Realtime Robotics, joining its $31.4 million Series A round in June 2021. In September 2022, the company raised another $14.4 million in a round co-led by Heroic Ventures, Soundproof Ventures, and SIP Global Partners. The fund used separate SPV structures for some deals, including entities registered with the SEC from 2016 onward.

By 2023, Fertik continued discussing investments in Israeli startups. Its public portfolio included Dwellsy, Triumph, Nikkl, and other young companies. Heroic Ventures worked in the same early-stage market as Felicis Ventures and Sutter Hill Ventures, while remaining a smaller private firm based in Palo Alto. By 2026, available records showed no sale, merger, or closure.

Heroic Ventures Logo

Designers were inspired by a technological future or something futuristic from movies, and created the Heroic Ventures logo. The unusual symbol on the left resembles the letter “H,” formed by vertical and horizontal elements. The entire structure appears three-dimensional due to a smooth blue gradient transitioning from a lighter to a darker shade. The elements intersect, creating an illusion of depth as if the figure is made of glass.

The company name is written to the symbol’s right in two simple, clear, and neat lines. The upper line, “HEROIC,” and the lower line, “VENTURES,” are set in the same black sans-serif font with proper proportions and small spaces between the letters. The text’s strict style emphasizes the company’s serious approach to the investment industry.

The brand invests in young projects with software, electronics, and biotechnology. These are fields where growth and development are crucial, and this very sentiment is reflected in the logo’s symbol: vertical shapes and upward-pointing lines evoke a sense of forward movement and progress. The emblem aligns with the company’s profile of strict technology without being dull.
