Michael Fertik and Matt Robinson founded Heroic Ventures in Palo Alto, California, in 2016. The firm focused on first-check and seed investments, backing startups before larger funds entered. Fertik brought experience from TruExchange and Reputation.com, founded in 2006, while Robinson joined as managing partner. The fund concentrated on Silicon Valley, Colorado, and Israel, with interests in software, fintech, robotics, digital services, and life sciences.

Heroic Ventures later backed Realtime Robotics, joining its $31.4 million Series A round in June 2021. In September 2022, the company raised another $14.4 million in a round co-led by Heroic Ventures, Soundproof Ventures, and SIP Global Partners. The fund used separate SPV structures for some deals, including entities registered with the SEC from 2016 onward.
By 2023, Fertik continued discussing investments in Israeli startups. Its public portfolio included Dwellsy, Triumph, Nikkl, and other young companies. Heroic Ventures worked in the same early-stage market as Felicis Ventures and Sutter Hill Ventures, while remaining a smaller private firm based in Palo Alto. By 2026, available records showed no sale, merger, or closure.
