Parkinson’s UK Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

Parkinson's UK Logo New

Parkinson’s UK, a leading charity in the UK that supports people affected by Parkinson’s disease, has introduced a new logo and visual identity designed by London-based agency Red Stone. The update reflects the organization’s goal to modernize its image while staying true to its mission: improving the lives of those with the condition and advancing research for better treatments.

Founded in 1969 as the Parkinson’s Disease Society and rebranded under its current name in 2010, the organization has continually evolved to meet the needs of its community. The refreshed identity aligns with its updated strategy, which aims to strengthen the sense of belonging for those affected, especially as the number of people living with the condition continues to grow worldwide.

Parkinson's UK Logo Evolution

The new logo stands out with a smart combination of the letter “P” and a tulip, a globally recognized symbol associated with the disease. Using negative space, the tulip’s shape emerges within the curve of the “P,” blending the organization’s history with a fresh, modern look. The tulip’s stem extends gracefully from the letter, adding a sense of movement that suggests growth and hope. It’s a subtle detail gives the logo personality, helping it stand out in the charity world.

The custom typeface, Parkinsans, complements the logo’s natural flow. Its rounded shapes, soft curves, and unique details—like the playful descenders on the letters “k” and “a”—mirror the smooth lines of the tulip. The typeface feels friendly yet bold, striking the right balance between warmth and clarity. Interestingly, Parkinsans has been made available as an open-source font on Google Fonts, reinforcing the charity’s focus on accessibility and inclusion.

Instead of a single dark blue tone, the new design features a mix of navy and cyan. The navy keeps things grounded and professional, while the bright cyan adds energy and warmth, reflecting optimism and a forward-looking spirit. These colors work well across different platforms, from printed materials to digital spaces.

The new identity introduces circular graphic elements inspired by the tulip’s shape. These circles appear subtly in backgrounds, infographics, and illustrations, adding a sense of flow and connection. The illustrations are simple yet expressive, bringing a human touch that reflects the organization’s focus on personal stories and community support.

What sets this rebrand apart is the deep involvement of those directly impacted. Red Stone worked closely with over 1,000 people through workshops, interviews, and outreach sessions to ensure the new identity reflects their experiences and aspirations. This collaborative approach helped create a design that feels authentic and meaningful to those it represents.
