The publishing house Alabaster, which produces books and products related to the Christian tradition and spiritual practices, has introduced a new style. The work was carried out by Pentagram, a studio known for collaborating with the world’s largest companies.
The name Alabaster comes from the biblical story of a woman who brought an alabaster vessel filled with fragrant oil as a gift. This image became the basis of the brand’s concept from the moment it was founded in 2016. Over the years, the company has expanded its range to include editions of the Bible, planners, notebooks, music, and other products that support spiritual life.
The new logo preserves the connection with the past while incorporating a modern design. The vessel symbol is now centered and rendered in a minimalist style. Its outlines convey refinement and give the mark visual integrity. The name ALABASTER is set in a strict typeface that combines classical proportions with a modern character.
Decorative lines inside the symbol suggest the aroma emanating from the vessel. In the graphics, this symbol represents the presence of the Holy Spirit and inner renewal, aligning with the company’s mission.
According to Luke Hayman, a partner at Pentagram, the team sought to combine tradition and modernity. The color palette was inspired by nature, featuring muted tones that create a sense of calm and are suitable for a range of media. The typeface for the logo and printed materials is distinguished by elegance and designed for long-term use.
The update also affected the publishing system. A unified design code was created for books and digital formats. It ensures design consistency across different platforms.
Brand director Samuel Han noted that the changes reflect the company’s development and its mission to accompany people in their spiritual lives. Alabaster’s products are intended for everyday use, whether it is morning journal entries, reading the Bible, or evening prayer. The new style is meant to emphasize practicality and bring the products closer to people.
The updated identity is applied across digital channels, with full implementation in print editions planned for the coming years. The redesign has strengthened Alabaster’s visual system, preserving its connection to Christian heritage and making the brand a modern tool for spiritual practice.
