Although the ARK logo seems simple, it is a profound symbol. It contains a stylized element that invites everyone into a world of adventures, combat strategies, survival, and incredible creatures, both prehistoric and mythological. The emblem is a guide that immerses players into the incredible universe.

ARK: Brand overview

The ARK brand began in October 2014, when Wildcard Properties, LLC, known as Studio Wildcard, was founded near Seattle. The studio was created by Doug Kennedy, Jesse Rapczak, Jeremy Stieglitz, and Susan Stieglitz. Rapczak had worked at Microsoft Game Studios, while Jeremy Stieglitz was linked to Trendy Entertainment and Dungeon Defenders. In December 2015, Trendy sued Stieglitz and Studio Wildcard over a non-compete dispute, but the case was settled in April 2016.

Development of a dinosaur survival game began in 2014 with help from Instinct Games, Efecto Studios, and Virtual Basement. In December 2015, Snail Ark Inc., connected to Snail Games USA, became part of Studio Wildcard’s structure. Distribution rights were later shared between Studio Wildcard and Snail Games USA.

Ark: Survival Evolved entered Steam Early Access for Windows on June 2, 2015, timed to coincide with the release of Jurassic World. macOS and Linux versions followed on July 1, and Xbox One access began on December 16. The full release arrived on August 29, 2017, for Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch versions followed in 2018, and Google Stadia received the game in 2021.

Studio Wildcard expanded the game through Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis. In 2018, it announced Atlas through Grapeshot Games, and in 2020 it revealed Ark II with Vin Diesel as executive producer. On October 25, 2023, Ark: Survival Ascended launched as an Unreal Engine 5 remake after official servers for the original game were shut down. ARK competed with Rust and Conan Exiles in the open-world survival market.

Meaning and History

ARK Logo History

The adventure game with survival elements features an open world with dynamic day-and-night cycles. It features 176 animals that players need to tame (with a few exceptions). Work on the game began in 2014, and a year later, it was first launched for personal computers. The team paid great attention to the appearance of the fantasy creatures: they studied them extensively before obtaining a license to use them for gaming purposes. Some of the most well-known dinosaurs were used. In later versions, mythical creatures joined the roster.

The ARK logo appeared long before the game’s official release in 2015. The game’s adaptation to various platforms continued for many years until 2022, when a separate version for the Nintendo Switch was released. Thus, the emblem gained increasing popularity and recognition among gamers. The logo’s foundation is the first letter of the title, which underwent a highly creative reinterpretation thanks to its simple, strict lines.

What is ARK?

ARK is an MMORPG, adventure, action, and survival strategy set in a fictional world inhabited by prehistoric and mythical animals. It features a total of 176 creatures. It was officially released in 2017 by Studio Wildcard for almost all known gaming platforms. The initial release date was 2015.

ARK Logo

The logo features the first letter of the game’s title. It is transformed into an impressive pyramidal structure with an open center, symbolizing a portal into an incredible world filled with various creatures. Some once inhabited our planet, while others are taken from mythological legends.

Magical symbols are engraved on the wide bands with a stone texture: circles, single thin lines, and triangles. They are chaotically scattered across the surface and sometimes connected. The angular elements of the block glyph are faceted precious minerals. At the top is a blue gem, and at the bottom are red and yellow ones. The stones have a bright color and glow from within, turning the ARK logo into a magical attribute.

The crossbar of the “A” is not closed: it is curved downward in the form of a triangular protrusion and does not reach the opposite side of the letter. Below it is the game title, with truncated lines that add mystery and expression to the logo. The “K” lacks the left angular part, the “R” lacks the upper segment, and the “A” lacks the central crossbar. Dark gray shadows, including the second line, complement all letters.

Font and Colors

ARK Emblem

The ARK emblem’s typeface is custom. It was created by individual order for this game so that the glyphs in all inscriptions would not stand out from the overall style dictated by the single “A.”

In contrast, the palette is bright and diverse. Expressive colors (blue, red, yellow) are effectively balanced by shades of a restrained spectrum (brown, beige, gray). White is also used for lines and inscriptions.
