Meaning and History
The adventure game with survival elements has an open world with dynamic day and night changes. It features 176 animals that players need to tame (with a few exceptions). Work on the game began in 2014, and a year later, it was first launched for personal computers. The team paid great attention to the appearance of the fantasy creatures: they studied them extensively before obtaining a license to use them for gaming purposes. Some of the most well-known dinosaurs were used. In later versions, mythical creatures joined the roster.
The ARK logo appeared long before the game’s official release – in 2015. The adaptation of the game to various platforms continued for many years until 2022, when a separate version for the Nintendo Switch was launched. Thus, the emblem gained more and more popularity and recognition among gamers. The logo’s foundation is the first letter of the title, which underwent a very creative reinterpretation due to its simple and strict lines.
What is ARK?
ARK is an MMORPG, adventure action, and survival strategy set in a fictional world inhabited by prehistoric and mythical animals. It features a total of 176 creatures. It was officially released in 2017 by Studio Wildcard for almost all known gaming platforms. The initial release date was 2015.
2015 – today
The logo features the first letter of the game’s title. It is transformed into an impressive pyramidal structure with an open center, symbolizing a portal into an incredible world filled with various creatures. Some of them actually once inhabited our planet, while others are taken from mythological legends.
On the wide bands with a stone texture, magical symbols are engraved: circles, single thin lines, and triangles. They are chaotically scattered across the surface and sometimes connected. The angular elements of the block glyph are faceted precious minerals. At the top, there is a blue gem, and at the bottom, there are red and yellow ones. The stones have a bright color and glow from within, turning the ARK logo into a magical attribute.
The crossbar of the “A” is not closed: it is curved downward in the form of a triangular protrusion and does not reach the opposite side of the letter. Below it is the game title, also with truncated lines, adding mystery and expression to the logo. The “K” lacks the left angular part, the “R” lacks the upper segment, and the “A” lacks the central crossbar. Dark gray shadows, including the second line, complement all letters.
Font and Colors
The ARK emblem’s typeface is custom. Apparently, it was created by individual order specifically for this game so that the glyphs in all inscriptions would not stand out from the overall style dictated by the single “A.”
In contrast, the palette is bright and diverse. Expressive colors (blue, red, yellow) are effectively balanced by shades of a restrained spectrum (brown, beige, gray). White is also used for lines and inscriptions.
