The music project BVN, formerly known as Black V Neck, introduced a new style reflecting changes in electronic music. The musicians maintained their connection to Miami’s culture and club scene, adding freshness and energy to their visual identity. The design was developed by Tallinn-based graphic artist Stepan Solodkov, who updated the imagery with bright colors and flowing lines.
Julian Sacheli and Ian Beato formed the duo Black V Neck in 2017. They became known for blending house music with Cuban influences and performed in clubs and festivals. The new name and logo became bolder, reflecting the energy of their music.
The previous logo was geometric and rigid, with the central letter “V” resembling the shape of a T-shirt collar. Despite the strictness of its forms, this created an imbalance as the letter “V” dominated. The logo consists of only three letters written in a soft font. The letter shapes are fluid, creating a feeling of musical rhythm. The letter “B” gained a precise shape, and the italicized style unified the characters into a cohesive whole.
The main innovation was the addition of animated letters. They move smoothly and change shape, reminiscent of electronic music rhythms, creating an endless sound.
The previous black and white colors were strict and calm. The new palette is bright orange with black letters, which increases energy and reflects the duo’s character.
Two different typefaces are now used: an italic sans serif and a rounded variant. They emphasize the connection between the group’s past and present. The old typeface was technological but rigid, while the new one was lively. The letters “Q” and “J” have unusual shapes, adding individuality to the logo. The soft letterforms convey the rhythm of the music and movement on the dance floor.
Free from rigid shapes, the new design reflects the group’s liveliness and sets the direction for their creative evolution.
