Meaning and History
The chat platform was created thanks to the CS224W project, which dealt with analyzing social and informational networks. Three Stanford students worked on it, and as a result, they created a resource for social discoveries through communication. So the site’s main purpose is the possibility to ask any question and get a frank answer. Today, it exists in two formats: a web service and a mobile application.
The online resource uses approaches and algorithms to determine which interlocutors will be of interest to each user based on the data provided. The program gets information from their conversations: the more conversations, the more information goes into the system, and the more accurate their choices will be. But this is only for registered visitors. And their anonymity is fully preserved.
What is Chatous?
Chatous is an online chat room for chatting with strangers randomly selected by the program. It is designed to share video, audio, text messages, and photos—the location of headquarters in San Francisco (USA). The time of launching the resource is 2012.
If desired, participants can enter into a profile detailed information about themselves, which the service does not disclose, using them only for work purposes. It is also possible to communicate without prior authorization. The person’s identity is hidden because there is an opportunity to change even the name displayed during the session. Chatous provides a secure environment where casual interlocutors exchange audio messages, photos, and correspondence or connect to a video chat. To search, you need to enter a query with #hashtags. The service will quickly find and suggest someone with similar interests.
The Chatous logo is a representation of the concept of the chat platform. It consists of two parts: verbal and graphic. Text information includes only one word – the name of the web resource. It is made of thin characters with rounded ends. All the letters are smooth, without sharp angles and abrupt transitions. At the same time, the distance between the characters is quite free, which improves the readability of the text. The inscription is in lower-case type.
The painted part includes a fragment of outer space, painted dark blue and dotted with a scattering of small stars of a bluish hue. They form a closed circle. In its background, in the center is a speech bubble that resembles a planet. It is encompassed by a wide orbit with tapering ends on the right and left. The space theme is used to reflect the globalization of the chat platform, as people from all over the world communicate freely through it.
Font and Colors
For the Chatous logo, a typeface with rounded letters was chosen, similar to several fonts with minor modifications. These include Alleyn Regular, Transat Standard, and Transat Text Standard. The signature palette consists of a harmonious combination of white and blue in several tones. These include the natural shades included in the celestial palette: these are the colors of the sky, space, and clouds.
