FlightAware: Brand overview

From its humble beginnings to its current position as a subsidiary of Collins Aerospace, FlightAware has grown into the world’s largest flight-tracking platform, providing airlines, airport operators, and software developers with real-time, historical, and predictive flight-tracking data and products.

In March 2005, a group of aviation enthusiasts set out to democratize flight tracking information. Their mission was clear – to create an accessible and user-friendly platform that would provide individuals and companies worldwide with real-time flight tracking. Thus, FlightAware was born, revolutionizing flight tracking by making comprehensive data easily accessible.

FlightAware installed ADS-B receivers worldwide to collect and process flight data in real-time as a pioneer in this field. As FlightAware’s network expanded, so did its capabilities. FlightAware has provided unrivaled flight tracking accuracy and historical and predictive information using advanced algorithms and the latest technology.

By 2019, FlightAware’s network included 32,000 ADS-B ground stations in 200 countries, enabling near real-time flight tracking worldwide.

In 2020, FlightAware joined forces with Collins Aerospace, setting FlightAware on a course for unprecedented technological advancement.

FlightAware Logo

The FlightAware logo accurately reflects the essence of the company’s activity: flight tracking. Its simple and expressive design makes it easily understandable for a wide audience.

On the right side is the silhouette of an airplane heading to the right. Behind it trails a dashed line of six segments, symbolizing the aircraft’s flight path. This line conveys a sense of movement and emphasizes the concept of real-time flight tracking. The airplane and dashed line are rendered in bright blue, evoking associations with the sky, air, and lightness.

The dashed line is integrated into the text, forming the crossbar of the letter “A.” This clever use of graphics unites the text and symbol into a cohesive composition, reinforcing the logo’s connection to aviation and flight path tracking.

The text is dark blue, strongly contrasting with the bright blue elements. The word “Flight” begins with a capital letter, highlighting the importance of each word in the name. The font is geometric with clean lines, but the sharp corners are softened with rounded edges. This makes the text readable and visually appealing, giving it a modern and professional look.

The name reflects the brand’s concept. “Flight” points to the aviation industry, while “Aware” emphasizes awareness, control, and understanding. The name clearly explains the company’s activity, strengthening its connection to its mission.

The color palette, combining bright blue and dark blue, underscores reliability and professionalism while maintaining associations with the sky and flight. Every visual identity element, from the airplane to the font, conveys the precision and dynamism at the core of the company’s work.
