Meaning and History
The news channel is often accused of being conservative. As it turned out, his conservatism extends to political preferences and logos because they are very similar to each other. For twenty years, designers have changed the color scheme several times and only one – the font of the word “channel.”
What is Fox News?
Fox News, or FNC (short for Fox News Channel), is the most widespread American cable network that broadcasts news, entertainment, and political content. It also exists as a website. The channel is known for its conservative stance, as it emerged as a resource for conservatives. It was founded in 1996. Its creator is media mogul Rupert Murdoch. The management center is located in New York City.
1996 – 2002
The logo, which appeared with Fox News, consisted of two differently shaped quadrangles. In a large black square was the name of the channel. From the lower-left corner stretched two widening stripes with a pointed base – long beams of searchlights. A thin red arched line crossed the background.
Below the square was a narrow red rectangle with the word “channel” in it. The designers have made all the labels white and highlighted the letters in bold to emphasize them.
2002 – 2017
In 2002, FNC released an updated logo with a dark blue square without a red line. In this version, the letter “C” in the word “channel” was capitalized as required by the spelling rules.
2017 – today
The logo evolved once again in 2017 when the designers updated the color palette and font. The blue has become lighter, and the red, on the contrary, is slightly darker. A thin curved line reappeared behind the FOX NEWS lettering, but now it’s white. All letters in the word “channel” are lowercase and bold.
Font and colors
The channel’s logo combines geometric motifs and text elements that express its corporate identity. Among them, a special place is occupied by two expanding stripes – the beams of the spotlight, reminding that Fox News is connected with the media sphere and covers events from different angles.
The font used for the labels is very similar to FF Good OT Black and slightly less to its free counterpart Wendelin-Fett Font. Designers have made small changes to the typography, so the name immediately catches the eye.
The Fox News logo is tri-color. The palette includes red (# c20017), white (#ffffff), and blue (# 003366). The selected shades do not contradict the general design of the TV channel.
