A notable leap was observed in January-April 2020, when Google lifted the 60-minute limit for unpaid accounts. The content of the video meetings is broadcast in a protected mode. If you share a link to a specific video call, you can join it from any device – from a PC or laptop browser and a mobile application on a tablet or smartphone.

After the appearance of this independent application, it immediately received a visual identity mark. The debut version had two equivalent elements: an old-style video camera and a classic dialogue bubble. The camera took center stage. She was in a round symbol designed to accommodate the participants’ words or thoughts. The video broadcasting equipment was painted in two colors: the upper half was gray, and the lower half was white. The background was a dark turquoise shade. The camcorder body was rounded at the corners, while the lens had sharp corners and resembled a trapezoid when viewed from the side.

The parent company fully customized the second Google Meet logo, using corporate colors to show that the service is part of its corporate portfolio. Moreover, the update affected both the color and graphic components. The emblem is now a hollow cube with a beveled upper left corner. It is formed from three wide stripes (on the right side), one triangle, one rectangle, and one square (on the left), which together make up the camera’s body. Its design also includes a large triangle, divided by color into a mini-triangle and a trapezoid. They symbolize the lens. The device is located on a white background without a dialog bubble.

2022 – today

The new Google Meet logo retains the familiar camera symbol associated with video calls, but is now rendered in various shades of green. Green symbolizes freshness, growth, and stability. This may suggest that the service has become a more mature and reliable communication tool, especially given its popularity during remote work and learning. Visually, this color evokes reliability and calm, emphasizing the platform’s convenience and dependability for users.

The camera symbol remains the same: a square with rounded corners and stylized tape forming the lens. In the center, a white square represents the screen, the primary element of any video call. This element visually highlights that the main focus is on communication and interaction.

The shades of green give the emblem a fresher and lighter appearance. These colors are often associated with eco-friendliness and safety, which is important in protecting user data, one of Google’s key priorities. Unlike previous versions, which used various colors, the green palette makes the visual mark more cohesive and calming.

Google Meet continues to evolve, and this logo reflects the company’s aim to make the service visually more modern, accessible, and recognizable.
