Kalki Fashion: Brand overview
In 2007, Kalki Fashion was born in Mumbai, founded by the enterprising Saurabh Gupta. Setting out to redefine ethnic wear for the cosmopolitan Indian woman, Kalki seamlessly blended traditional designs with contemporary trends.
In its early days, the brand carefully cultivated its signature style, and Mumbai became the central hub of design creativity and material sourcing. In the late 2000s, Kalki branded stores began opening on the streets of major Indian cities.
Over time, the Kalki range expanded to include apparel, accessories and footwear. Rooted in the rich Indian culture and art, the brand at the same time took into account modern trends in design.
In the decade that followed, Kalki further expanded its horizons by launching sub-brands like Kalki Couture and Kalki Kids. While high-end malls housed the company’s stores, the digital sphere did not go unnoticed. The e-commerce platform provided access to Kalki’s collections to fashion aficionados not only in the country but also across the globe.
Today, Kalki Fashion, with its extensive store network and international delivery capabilities, has positioned itself as the vanguard of contemporary Indian ethnic fashion.

The brand, which specializes in traditional Indian and ethnic wear, strives to live up to the image of a major fashion hub. Therefore, its logo is designed in the style of internationally recognized fashion magazines. For example, the font of the logo resembles the headline design of ELLE magazine. The letters are tall, uppercase, elongated upwards, with thin, elegant serifs and large spacing between characters. Almost every glyph has one thick and one thin stroke, which creates a sense of visual dynamics and sets a clear internal rhythm. At the bottom, the second part of the name is typed in small sans-serif font.
The two types of strokes in each letter – thick and thin – create a sense of coolness as if the brand is in line with modern fashion but values tradition. The small sans-serif text at the bottom resembles a whisper, balancing out the shouty main text. The logo is reminiscent of a fashionista who knows when to make a statement and when to stay calm.
