In 2015, Shopee, an e-commerce venture founded by Forrest Lee and his team, came into existence in Singapore. Conceived as a digital marketplace for Southeast Asia, Shopee focused on digital payment integration and logistics optimization from the beginning.

Not stopping there, Shopee quickly expanded its reach across the Southeast Asian region, marking its presence in countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Just three years after its inception, in 2018, the platform reached an impressive gross merchandise volume of over US$3.8 billion and was named the best shopping app in its region.

In 2019, Shopee expanded beyond Asia and tapped markets in Latin America, particularly Brazil. The offering of its parent company, Sea Limited, has also gotten richer with the addition of Shopee Sports and Shopee Coins. As the world struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic that will start in 2020, the e-commerce industry is booming, and Shopee is no exception. The popularity of the platform has skyrocketed, and it has taken a place on the list of most downloaded apps worldwide.

By the end of 2021, the platform’s activity exceeded 343 million monthly users across all territories of operation, attracting a multitude of sellers and buyers. Shopee’s journey continues, expanding its horizons both geographically and in terms of products offered. With its roots in Singapore, its birthplace, Shopee, remains a dominant force in e-commerce, especially in Southeast Asia.

The main attribute of any shopping experience is the bag. It is what the Singapore-based online shopping platform Shopee uses as its identifying mark. The bag has a trapezoidal shape and a handle in the form of an arc. Like the lettering on the right, it is colored red-orange, which is eye-catching. The text is single, single-line, centered next to another element. It is mostly lowercase, except for the first letter, which is capitalized and shown on the bag. The font is thin, sans-serif, rounded.

The red-orange color brings to mind something exciting, like a summer sunset. The trapezoidal shape and arched handle give the impression that the bag is smiling, as if happy to be bought.
