National Center Logos and Brands
State scientific, cultural, and research centers operating at the national level are collected in the “National Center” section. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), Smithsonian Institution, National Cancer Institute, and CERN (although international, but based in Geneva) represent institutions funded by state budgets to solve large-scale problems. The logos of national centers bear official insignia, government seals, and scientific symbols. The brands in this section work in fundamental research, public health, cultural heritage, and technological development, where the word “national” in their names signifies a responsibility to the population of an entire country.
