Their production requires precise calculations and quality control at every stage, as the safety of the entire system depends on these parameters. The Tenaris logo is associated with a company that manufactures steel pipes for drilling and production, supplying products for energy and industrial projects.
The history of Tenaris dates back to 1909. In the Italian city of Dalmine, production of seamless steel pipes was launched. In 1935, engineer Agostino Rocca took over management of the plant. Later, he founded the Techint industrial group in Argentina. It became the foundation of what would become Tenaris.
In 1954, Techint built two seamless pipe plants. One was located in Mexico and named Tamsa. The second was built in Argentina and called Siderca. In 1986, Siderca acquired the company Siat. By 1996, after purchasing Italy’s Dalmine, it had established a network of plants in Europe and Latin America.
In 2001, the company was named Tenaris. During this period, international assets were consolidated. In 2002, the company’s shares were listed on the stock exchanges of New York, Milan, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City. This secured its status as a global supplier of tubular products for the oil and gas industry.
In 2004, the company acquired the Romanian firm Silcotub. In 2006, it purchased the American company Maverick Tube for $ 3.2 billion. In 2007, Hydril was acquired for $ 2.16 billion. The deal expanded the range of premium connections.
In the 2010s, the company expanded its presence in the Middle East and Asia. A plant was opened in Saudi Arabia. Facilities in Indonesia were also integrated. In 2019, Tenaris acquired Saudi Steel Pipe. In 2020, the company purchased IPSCO Tubulars from Russia’s TMK for $ 1.2 billion.
In 2023, Tenaris acquired Shawcor’s pipe coating business for $ 266 million. In the same year, the company consolidated its assets in Saudi Arabia.
The company operates a network of facilities in more than 30 countries. It produces seamless and welded pipes for energy, industry, and infrastructure. Annual revenue reached 12.5 billion dollars. Net profit amounted to $ 2.1 billion.

2001 – today
The Tenaris brand was introduced on April 30, 2001. Its launch was connected to the restructuring of the Techint Group’s assets and the consolidation of its pipe businesses under one international name. Before Tenaris, this business line included Dalmine, Siderca, and Tamsa. At the same time, the alliance was called DST after the first letters of the three companies.
Tenaris S.A. was established in Luxembourg in 2002 following an exchange of shares involving Siderca, Tamsa, and Dalmine. The company was listed on the stock exchanges of New York, Milan, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City. The logo represented the transition from a group of major pipe manufacturers to a single global corporation.
The company connects the Tenaris name with the word “tenacity.” It represents persistence in serving customers around the world, achieving goals, and striving for excellence. Robert Matza, Nao Okawa, and Junji Hase worked on the identity.
The logo consists of a multi-bar symbol on the left and the Tenaris wordmark on the right. The colored stripes represent the diversity of people working at Tenaris around the world. The symbol consists of seven horizontal lines of different thicknesses and resembles an abstract barcode.
The upper section begins with two thin lines, one magenta and one green. Below them are a wide blue stripe, a wide green stripe, and a thinner magenta stripe. Two thin lines, one blue and one green, complete the form. All stripes run horizontally without any slant or decorative curves.
The gray word Tenaris appears on the right. The first letter, “T,” is uppercase, while the remaining letters are lowercase. The heavy sans-serif typeface has dense letterforms and resembles Helvetica Rounded or Arial Rounded. The soft letterforms balance the technical block of stripes. At the same time, the gray color gives the wordmark a calmer appearance beside the bright multi-bar symbol.
