The emblem features the sounds of a gunshot and shattering glass. The Apex Legends logo perfectly conveys the game’s direction, alerting users and keeping them on the move. After all, only the fastest and most nimble will survive.

Apex Legends: Brand overview

Apex Legends traces back to Respawn Entertainment, founded in 2010 by Vince Zampella after his exit from Infinity Ward. Under Electronic Arts, the studio released Titanfall (2014) and Titanfall 2 (2016). The sequel was well received but underperformed at launch alongside Battlefield 1.

In 2017, EA acquired Respawn for about $455 million. A planned Titanfall project shifted direction as the team explored battle royale ideas, influenced by PUBG and Fortnite. The focus moved toward differentiation in a crowded genre.

Apex Legends was built around three-player squads, with abilities designed for team synergy. A key feature was the ping system for nonverbal coordination, which EA later patented and opened to other developers in 2021.

On February 4, 2019, the game launched without prior announcement on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Within 72 hours, it reached 10 million players; within a week, 25 million; and within a month, 50 million. On Twitch, it briefly surpassed Fortnite in viewership.

The first season, Wild Frontier, started on March 19, 2019, adding Octane and a battle pass. Monetization relied on cosmetics and seasonal content. In October 2019, the World’s Edge map replaced Kings Canyon. The game won Best Multiplayer at The Game Awards in 2019.

Esports began with the 2019 Preseason Invitational in Krakow, followed by the Apex Legends Global Series, which featured a $3 million prize pool. In 2021, TSM won the ALGS Championship.

The game expanded to Steam in 2020, Nintendo Switch in 2021, and next-gen consoles in 2022. Apex Legends Mobile launched in 2022 and closed in 2023. By April 2021, the player base exceeded 100 million.

The logo greeted them at the entrance to the virtual world, now well known to many fans of multiplayer shooters.

These are two-in-one: a graphic visualization of the game’s name and distinctive sign. Respawn Entertainment representatives created them, as well as the locations and the characters’ appearance.

Font and Colors

Apex Legends Emblem

Apex Legends has no special symbols associated with the virtual world, only a triangular stripe shaped like an upward-pointing arrow on the red coat of arms. It is used as an icon, and the main logo is the inscription “APEX LEGENDS,” divided into two lines. The upper part is stylized to look like a shabby old film image.

Designers from Respawn Entertainment have developed a unique font for the game’s logo and not one, but two at once. The letters in the word “APEX” are extended upward and decorated with short beveled serifs. The inscription “LEGENDS” looks almost identical but uses an elongated grotesque.

In the original, black text contrasts with a white background. There are also multi-colored versions of the logo that can change depending on the visual context.
