DENALI Electronics was founded in Exeter, Rhode Island, in 2010 by Eric Stephens and Nate Bastien. Stephens had launched motorcycle accessories retailer Twisted Throttle in 2002, while Bastien brought industrial design training from the Rhode Island School of Design. Their goal was to adapt LED lighting for motorcycles and powersports, where halogen and HID systems still dominated.
They sold early products through Twisted Throttle, but fit and reliability issues pushed the founders toward original engineering. Vision X Lighting became the optics manufacturer, supplying hardware built for vibration and impact. DENALI then introduced DataDim, a controller switching auxiliary lights between reduced and full output through the factory high-beam control. The SoundBomb range followed with compact 120 dB air horns.
The company later developed CANsmart, linking lights, horns, and brake accessories to a motorcycle’s CAN bus. Riders could manage them through factory handlebar switches or Accessory Manager software without extensive extra wiring. This model-specific integration separated DENALI from Baja Designs and Rigid Industries, whose main focus remained off-road vehicle lighting.
On July 1, 2022, Twisted Throttle, DENALI Electronics, and DRYSPEC joined Vision X Group, part of Brown & Watson International. Vision X had manufactured DENALI optics for over a decade. The deal expanded production and distribution, while the team and management remained in Rhode Island.

The emblem prominently features the brand name. The first letter, “D,” is highly distinctive, huge, yellow, and shaped like a geometric figure with an interesting internal form. It looks bold and striking, and its right side resembles a stylized LED bulb mounted on a contact. The letter’s interior is divided as if it contains circuit board traces, hinting at electronics and smart technologies, the brand’s core focus.
The remaining letters, “ENALI,” are in white, uppercase, bold, square-shaped characters with no decorative elements, strict and serious. The letters are placed tightly together, creating a sense of unity. Beneath the main name, the word “ELECTRONICS” appears in a smaller size but in the same crisp white letters, emphasizing the company’s technical nature.
