Indigenous Pact Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

Indigenous Pact Logo New

Indigenous Pact, an organization focused on advancing health equity for American Indian and Alaska Native communities, has introduced a new logo and visual identity created by Elmwood. The update reflects the organization’s mission while honoring its deep cultural roots and commitment to community-driven healthcare. The refreshed design blends tradition with a modern, professional look, highlighting Indigenous values alongside a vision for progress.

The new logo’s center features a stylized star inspired by the Native star quilt, a symbol with deep meaning in many Tribal cultures. The star is made from geometric triangles arranged to create a sense of movement and unity. Purple tones carry cultural significance, particularly for the Oneida community. Co-founder Aimee Brenkus guided the design process and noted how this color enriches the identity, representing heritage and a vibrant, future-oriented outlook.

Indigenous Pact Logo Evolution

The geometric design reflects more than traditional quilt patterns—it speaks to interconnectedness, a value woven into the ways of life of Native communities. Each triangle represents parts of the organization’s work, such as advisory services, care delivery, and operations management. Together, they form a star that illustrates how these areas support one another, creating a strong foundation for Tribal communities.

A secondary logo features a red circle at its center, along with the star. The circle symbolizes the individual—the heart of the organization’s mission. Surrounding layers represent family, healthcare providers, and Tribal networks, showing how support radiates outward, from personal well-being to the strength of the broader community. The layered design reflects the organization’s Community Care model, which focuses on holistic, proactive support.

The previous wordmark used the Optima typeface, with an awkward lowercase “i” that felt out of place. It’s now replaced by Sagona, a geometric serif font that blends professionalism with warmth. Its clean lines and subtle curves complement the sharp angles of the star, creating a balanced, cohesive design. Aligning the text with the star’s horizontal lines helps unify the logo, solving previous issues where the words felt visually disconnected.

The old turquoise and muted tones have been replaced with bold purples and gradient transitions. These rich hues reflect wisdom, strength, and resilience, offering a contemporary feel that connects traditional and modern audiences. The vivid red circle adds contrast, focusing on the organization’s individual-centered approach.

Beyond the logo, the new identity includes quilt-inspired geometric patterns and subtle animations. These design elements honor Native artistry without feeling commercialized. Monochromatic variations allow the visuals to adapt across digital platforms, printed materials, and other applications, ensuring cultural respect and consistency wherever the brand appears.

The rebranding comes at an important time for Indigenous Pact as the organization continues its work addressing health disparities in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. According to Elmwood, these populations face some of the lowest life expectancies in the U.S., along with higher rates of diabetes and maternal mortality compared to non-Hispanic white communities. The updated identity aims to raise awareness of these issues while fostering pride, unity, and hope among those it serves.
