Looking at the emblem, the user seems to plunge into the fantastic future world visible through the portal. The owners promise a modern approach and cool innovations in the brand’s cars, as the Karma logo suggests.
Meaning and History
It is a young luxury car manufacturer. It resulted from the parent company’s bankruptcy, with its assets sold at auction. The Wanxiang Group of China purchased them for $149.2 million. These included projects, a Delaware plant, and a hybrid engine. After A123 Systems also declared bankruptcy, the Chinese company acquired it because the power units were compatible with the branded car.
The organization began producing its cars in 2016, starting with the Revero model. Since she sold the former plant in Wilmington, Delaware, all production was concentrated in Moreno Valley (California). The brand’s debut took place in the fall of the same year. He planned to manufacture at least 3 thousand units of transport equipment. But in 2019, the company recalled all Revero samples and stopped selling them. The reason is a defect in the rollover sensors. At the same time, Karma opened its Innovation and Customization Center and announced a partnership with electric-vehicle owner Ayro.
What is Karma?
Karma was established in 2014, based on the bankrupt Fisker Automotive. Its owner is the auto parts supplier Wanxiang Group, which purchased all of Fisker’s assets except for trademarks and branding. Karma develops electric vehicles and charging technologies. Its flagship product is the sport sedan Revero. The manufacturer’s headquarters are located in California, and its sales network covers dozens of countries worldwide.
However, the brand suffered further setbacks: at the end of 2019, Karma Automotive faced serious financial problems, leading to a reduction in head office staff. In 2020, she fired several dozen more people and sought $100 million from investors. It will use them to license its electric-vehicle proprietary platform.
Since the main deal did not include the Fisker brand and its trademarks, the new owner renamed his acquisition and designed a logo from scratch. It has nothing to do with the previous version and has a more modern style.
The composition of the Karma logo is extraordinary and unlike any identity in the car market. It is a progressive visual sign consisting of a circular, three-dimensional graphic element and exquisite lettering, used both in combination with the icon and separately.
The image resembles a car headlight, a video surveillance peephole, or even a snake’s eye. The central detail is convex and incredibly rich in color: the blue is so deep that it turns to a cobalt shade with gradient tints in the glare. Next is a thin yellow stripe with a bright glow at the top left. It is followed by a solid crimson ring and a black line separating the middle from the edge.
There is a silver frame on an edge with three notches and sharp diagonal cutouts at the top, right, and left. They have different sizes. The rim is also voluminous, so it appears to have a protruding edge, although the well-distributed shadows create this effect. Overall, the logo looks like a gem. The inscription is no less interesting. The brand name is finished with crisp and subtle touches of glossy silver. The letter “A” lacks a crossbar, which is why the “M” received an external resemblance to it.
Font and Colors
For the updated logo, the company chose a typeface close to Posterama Pro 2001 Light. It’s sophisticated, stylish, crisp, and sans serif.
For the signature palette, the designers used incredibly rich colors: purple, yellow transitioning to orange, cold silver, and deep cobalt. They add energy, dynamics, and mystery to the logo.
