Mashpee Middle-High School opened in 1996 after residents of Mashpee, Massachusetts, voted to create a local secondary school. For decades, students had traveled to Falmouth High School. Still, rapid population growth from the 1970s through 2000 made a separate campus necessary. The school was built near Old Barnstable Road and Route 151 for grades 7 through 12. Its teams became the Falcons, using royal blue, white, and black.
In 2008, grades 7 and 8 were formally separated from grades 9 through 12, with different administrators, teachers, and sports programs inside the same building. The two sections were later reunited under one leadership. A Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association ruling allowed eighth-grade students to join high school teams.
Mashpee has one of New England’s highest shares of Native American students. Since 2004, graduation ceremonies have opened with a blessing in the Wampanoag language and traditional songs performed by the Red Hawk Singers, reflecting the town’s long connection with the Mashpee Wampanoag community.
Football became one of the school’s strongest programs under coach Matt Triveri. The Falcons finished the 2008 regular season at 10-1 and posted a 51-16 record from 2005 to 2009. In 2015, Mashpee won a state title at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough by defeating Saint Bernard’s Catholic 28-8. Rivals included Sandwich High School, Monomoy Regional High School, Abington High School, and Cape Cod Regional Technical High School.
