Pitch Black Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

Pitch Black Logo New

Pitch Black is not another business incubator or just a platform for startup pitches. It is a space and community for Black entrepreneurs, created to ensure their ideas are heard and supported. The organization hosts meetups, pitches, podcasts, and interviews, sharing stories of founders that inspire and unite community members.

The old Pitch Black logo featured an Afro comb, clearly highlighting a connection to African American culture. However, its execution appeared superficial and overly obvious, depriving the logo of depth. Instead of a serious symbol, it looked like a casual illustration that didn’t align well with the project’s goals.

Pitch Black Logo Evolution

The new logo discards symbols entirely, relying completely on typography. VTC Spike by Vocal Type, inspired by the visual language of director Spike Lee, makes the inscription bold and expressive. The typeface looks confident, reflecting the brand’s strength and authority. The logo can be arranged in one or two lines, maintaining consistent letter spacing and aesthetic appeal.

Complementing the new typeface is the classic Cheltenham, known for its use in The New York Times’ newspaper headlines. This combination creates a balance between contemporary cultural aesthetics and the seriousness of the business community, helping the brand avoid excessive trendiness.

The color palette is based on purple and black, emphasizing the depth and status of the brand. Accent colors used in communications add extra brightness and variety without overload.

Pitch Black is no longer perceived as just a series of events. It has become a powerful digital space, “The Home of Black Ideas,” where founders find inspiration and funding for their projects. The new brand identity highlights the organization’s maturity and importance in supporting the Black entrepreneurial community. It’s a style that speaks confidently and loudly, without unnecessary details.
