AIGA NY Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

AIGA NY Logo New

The New York chapter of the design association AIGA, the largest in the country and known beyond its borders, has unveiled a fully refreshed identity along with a new development strategy. The move underscores the chapter’s ambition to remain a key platform for the city’s creative community.

The updated style and positioning emphasize AIGA NY’s role as a shared space for designers, a meeting place for different viewpoints, practices, and professional paths. The new strategy defines the organization’s mission as an open environment for idea exchange and collaboration, where designers can connect, learn from one another, and move toward shared goals.

The main focus of the update is the logo, created by designer and New Yorker Christopher Guerrero with the participation of Raven Mo, who previously served on the organization’s board of directors. The letters are arranged around the familiar AIGA block, creating a central space in the composition. This space is perceived as a city square, filled with life and interaction. The logo conveys the rhythm of New York, its layered nature, and visual density. Instead of a static mark, the designer proposed a flexible foundation open to experimentation and change.

The mark’s structure is simple, allowing it to be combined with images and text. Typography and visual techniques vary by context while maintaining a cohesive image. The approach is tied to the idea of the design community as a changing environment that lives in the rhythm of the city.

Guerrero notes that the main goal was to avoid clichés and to convey an authentic sense of New York. The logo brings together order and chaos, structure and spontaneity, qualities that have become part of the city’s culture and the metropolis’s design scene.

The refreshed AIGA NY brand combines the association’s traditional block with new typography, revealing the organization’s essence as a space that connects, supports, and inspires New York designers.
