Meaning and History

Sigma Logo History

The company Sigma is quite young. However, it already has a logo history showing its gradual transformation from an online store to a major brand with boutiques in different countries. Despite using different fonts, their lines look feminine and clear because makeup is an art, and the company’s products help create real masterpieces.

What is Sigma?

A cosmetics company headquartered in Mendota Heights that started as an online store. Produces cosmetics, handmade brushes to apply them, and accessories to care for brushes and brushes.

2009 – 2012

The logo consists of the brand’s name inscribed in white letters into a black circle. The image resembles an icon on the Internet, which is unsurprising since the company is registered as an online store.

The company name is taken from the Greek letter Σ. This symbol stands for the sum of mathematical quantities. In the company’s interpretation, the sign says about a person’s personality, which consists of the sum of our addictions. And our favorite cosmetics are one of them. Using the company’s products helps create a beautiful image by working on each part.

The black circle indicates harmony and completeness, integrity, and sum. The white letters contrast well with the base. It indicates the main purpose of cosmetics – to advantageously emphasize beautiful facial features (white) and disguise flaws (black).

The black circle is like an enlarged dot that says, “enough Sigma products for makeup and period.”

2012 – 2018

Sigma Beauty Logo 2012

In 2012, the company opened its first offline store. The event was celebrated by changing the logo, giving it a smart look. A black circle with white lettering was surrounded by pink and white piping. It added tenderness and brightness.

The colored lines communicated the company’s arsenal of colorful beauty products (before that, only brushes and grooming items were sold). Pink was especially well combined with pastel shades of the Paris Edition eyeshadow palette, released in 2012.

Pink is a prototype of femininity. Another purpose of the logo is to show that the company employs 85% of women.

The white lettering has been aligned and given thinner letters, complementing the impression of tenderness and femininity.

2018 – today

Sigma Beauty Logo

There was a complete rebranding of the brand with a new Magento website, a revamped logo, and the opening of 250 stores. The company’s emblem from this period is loose and light. It’s created from thin capital letters of the name and a stylized M.

The stylized M shows:

  • The two founders at the company’s origins,
  • Two ways of trading. The brand is actively distributed through online and offline stores.
  • A focus on listening to women and solving the problems they express.

If you turn the letter M upside down, it forms the symbol Σ, which is probably the reason for the emphasis on this part of the word.

Font and Colors

The main colors of the logo are black and white.

  • Black corresponds to the color of most eyeliners and mascaras.
  • White indicates soft brushes with the white pile, for which the company is famous. It tells about the absence of product testing on animals.

The font of the inscription is unique due to the transformation of M. The thin glyphs demonstrate minimalism and moderation. Only with the right approach will cosmetics beautify.
