Spania GTA: Brand overview

When Spanish engineer and racecar driver Domingo Ochoa established the business in Valencia, Spain, in 1994, the company’s history officially began. Ochoa, who has a wealth of engineering and motorsports experience, set out to design a special sports car that would combine cutting-edge technology, exceptional performance, and exclusivity.

Once called GTA Motor, the business concentrated on development and design in its early years. Ochoa worked with a small group of engineers to develop a novel chassis and aerodynamic body for the supercar’s future framework.

Significant research and development were conducted between 1994 and 2005. The team experimented with various materials and technologies to develop a robust, lightweight body. An aerodynamic package and special suspension system were also developed during this period.

The company’s initial GTA Concept prototype was unveiled in 2005. This vehicle showcased its technical prowess and concept for a contemporary supercar, even though it was never meant for mass production. Positive evaluations of the GTA Concept in the automotive press encouraged the team to keep working on it.

The ensuing years were spent honing the idea and getting ready to start building a production vehicle. To guarantee the best components for the upcoming car, the business actively worked with several suppliers and technical partners during this time.

Development of what would become the GTA Spano began in 2008. With this project, Ochoa’s goals of building a top-tier Spanish supercar were blended with all the advancements of the past few years.

The 2011 Geneva Motor Show introduced the GTA Spano concept car, which signaled a sea change in the company’s history. The car’s futuristic appearance and strong promised performance drew notice. An 8.3-liter V10 engine with 780 horsepower powered the GTA Spano.

After the prototype was presented, the company concentrated on perfecting the GTA Spano for mass production. Engineers worked on improving the car’s design, aerodynamics, and technical features for several years during this process.

A revised GTA Spano debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013. This model was improved in various ways and was closer to production. The engine was given 900 horsepower, and the maximum speed was 350 km/h.

The unveiling of the GTA Spano’s final production form at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 marked a significant milestone. The vehicle had a new 8.0-liter V10 engine with dual turbochargers and 925 horsepower. The body was created using advanced materials like carbon fiber, titanium, and Kevlar.

The company limited the production of GTA Spano in 2016. Each car required labor-intensive assembly because highly qualified professionals completed most of the work by hand, guaranteeing each unit’s greatest caliber and individuality.

The brand’s international reach was extended in 2017. The company showcased the GTA Spano to prospective buyers from various nations by participating in several esteemed European and Middle Eastern car shows, enhancing the brand’s standing in the international supercar industry.

2018, the company revealed a limited edition of the GTA Spano R, an even more potent and special vehicle version. New aerodynamic components and an upgraded engine increased the GTA Spano R’s output to 950 horsepower.

The focus of 2019 was on technological innovation. The team started experimenting with new composite materials for the body and chassis to lower the vehicle’s weight and enhance performance.

The company unveiled a revised version of the GTA Spano during the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. This model features several technological upgrades, such as improved electronics and an engine cooling system.

2021 was a year of digital innovation for businesses. The company created a unique telemetry system for the GTA Spano that lets owners check several vehicle parameters using a smartphone app.

The company declared in 2022 that it was developing a hybrid GTA Spano. This action was taken in reaction to increasing environmental rules and growing tendencies in the car industry toward electrification.

The first manufacturing of the GTA Spano was shown ten years ago in 2023. The firm unveiled a limited anniversary edition of cars with distinctive styling and more personalization choices to mark this occasion.

Over the ensuing years, the company concentrated on producing a small quantity of the GTA Spano, kept improving its main product, and took part in numerous international auto shows and events.

The key element of the Spania GTA logo is a predator – the Iberian wolf, known as the Lobo. Found in Spain and neighboring countries, it represents a unique inhabitant of the peninsula, significantly different from the common wolf. The automaker aimed to emphasize this uniqueness. Through the image of the wild animal, they showcased several characteristics of their vehicles:

  • Lightning speed and agility
  • Maneuverability and quick response
  • Originality and distinctiveness
  • Extravagance and exclusivity
  • Authenticity and uniqueness

The wild beast resembles a heraldic lion while retaining distinct wolf features. The animal is depicted in profile, facing left. It has furry paws, a bushy tail held horizontally, and a red tongue sticking out of its open mouth. The figure is black, making it stand out against the white background.

Below the Iberian wolf is the brand name GTA Motor, written in bold uppercase letters. The slight rightward slant of the letters contrasts with the direction of the predator’s movement, adding dynamism to the emblem. The absence of serifs on the glyphs indicates the sports car manufacturer’s friendly nature.

The bottom part of the shield features a finished flag with red and white squares. These squares also lean to the right, harmonizing with the brand name and fitting well into the sports theme. The checkered pattern evokes the traditional racing flag waved by judges at the finish line. A silver frame runs along the edge of the heraldic shield. The gradient gray color makes the border look three-dimensional.

This design perfectly aligns with the automotive company, as its primary product range includes various types of sports cars. They are as swift as the Iberian wolf, dashing across fields and maneuvering easily between obstacles.

2005 – today

The updates have not significantly altered the logo: It still has a shield shape, the brand name, and one of Spain’s characteristic symbols—the Iberian wolf. Only the style has been modernized, making the emblem more contemporary and suited for car racing.

The fierce predator has been given a bold look and has become much more dynamic. To achieve this, designers elongated the wolf, added two fangs to the lower jaw, drew back and flattened the ears, depicted a massive chest, and changed the tail’s angle from horizontal to diagonal. Their efforts paid off: the wolf appeared aggressive and ready to leap forward.

The lettering has also transformed, which was the purpose of the visual identity update. The name Spania GTA is divided by color, font, and background. The first word is mostly in lowercase letters, colored black, and placed in a white space. The second part of the name (the abbreviation) is in uppercase, colored white, and positioned on a red racing flag that has been moved up to accommodate it.

True to its wild nature, the wolf runs at full speed, which aligns more with a company that manufactures sports cars. The colors have also changed. Bright red has transformed into crimson, and gray steel has turned pearlescent, making the frame thinner. Additionally, all elements now appear three-dimensional due to the added shadows.
