Spokane Colleges has introduced a new name and visual identity, strengthening its connection to the region and its commitment to education. The update changes the previous name, Community Colleges of Spokane, while maintaining a distinct identity for Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College.
The new logo combines two symbolic elements: a stylized Ponderosa pine and a representation of Spokane Falls. The tree, a familiar presence in the city, represents resilience and growth. The waterfall, a key feature of downtown Spokane, reflects movement and adaptability. Together, these elements form a navigation arrow, symbolizing guidance in education. At the same time, they can stand alone, allowing each college to maintain its unique identity while remaining part of Spokane Colleges.
The typography has been updated with a refined serif font that balances tradition with a modern touch. The lettering is more defined than the previous design, improving readability across different formats. The shift from the old academic-style typeface to a contemporary look keeps it professional and more approachable.
The color palette has expanded to include shades of green and blue, reinforcing the connection to nature and the region’s landscape. The previous dark blue scheme has been replaced with fresher colors while maintaining an academic tone.
The overall design blends structure with flexibility, allowing the logo to adapt across various applications. Combining geometric and natural elements creates a visual identity that stays rooted in the region while fitting modern branding needs.
The rebranding gives Spokane Colleges a unified and recognizable image while preserving the individuality of its institutions. The refined design, updated typography, and expanded color palette reflect its heritage and focus on the future.
