Nokia Logos and Brands
The Finnish company, which has gone from a pulp mill in 1865 to a global leader in mobile phones and back to telecom infrastructure, is represented in the “Nokia” section. In the 1990s and 2000s, Nokia sold every third mobile phone on the planet, and the Nokia Tune ringtone and the logo with the inscription “NOKIA” against the background of hands (Connecting People) became symbols of the pre-smartphone era. The inability to adapt to the touchscreen revolution led to the sale of the mobile division to Microsoft in 2014. Today’s Nokia focuses on 5G network equipment and has a licensing partner, HMD Global, to produce phones under the former name. This section documents one of the most dramatic visual and commercial transformations in the history of the technology business.
