North Macedonia Logos and Brands
The Balkan state, which changed its name from “Republic of Macedonia” to “North Macedonia” in 2019 under the Prespa Agreement with Greece, is referred to as “North Macedonia.” The renaming affected state symbols, sports federations, and national brands, forcing them to adapt their visual identities. The Football Federation (FFM), which led the national team to Euro 2020 for the first time, and the MZT Skopje basketball club represent the sports component. The Vergina Sun, previously featured on the national flag, was removed in 1995 following a dispute with Greece, and the current flag with diverging rays reflects a compromise between national identity and diplomatic obligations. The logos in this section bear the mark of a country whose visual symbolism has been part of one of the most politicized rebranding stories in modern Europe.
