Opel Logos and Brands
The German car manufacturer, with a history of more than 160 years, from the production of sewing machines (1862) to cars, is represented in the Opel section. The lightning bolt (Blitz) symbol, which appeared in the logo in 1964, has undergone several revisions and remains the visual core of the brand. Opel was owned by General Motors from 1929 to 2017, when it was sold to the PSA Group (now Stellantis). The transition to the new owner required adapting the model range to the Peugeot and Citroën platforms. The Corsa, Astra, and Insignia form the core of the current lineup, while the electric Opel Mokka-e marks the transition to zero emissions. This section traces the brand’s visual evolution across American, French, and European corporate management.
