PayPal Logos and Brands
One of the pioneers of online payments, which grew out of the 2000 merger of Confinity and Elon Musk’s X.com, occupies the “PayPal” section. After its IPO in 2002 and acquisition by eBay (and then its spin-off in 2015), PayPal became an independent public company with a market capitalization exceeding $300 billion at its peak. The acquisition of Venmo, Braintree, and Honey expanded the ecosystem beyond basic email-to-email transfers. The logo with two overlapping P’s has become synonymous with online payments for hundreds of millions of users. This section documents the brand’s visual transformation from a “PayPal Mafia” startup to an infrastructure element of global e-commerce.
