Romanian cars Logos and Brands
The “Romanian Cars” section expands on the theme of the Romanian automotive industry, adding historical and niche brands to the collection. ARO, which produced SUVs from 1957 to 2006, Oltcit, created in partnership with Citroën, and IMS, which produced trucks and buses, complete the picture of the country’s automotive industry, which experienced an upswing under Ceaușescu and a painful restructuring after the 1989 revolution. The logos of Romanian car brands reflect the country’s industrial history, in which a lack of technology and resources hampered ambitious mass motorization projects. Dacia remains the only mass brand to have survived the transition to a market economy, and the distinction between the “Romania Cars” and “Romanian Cars” sections is evident only in the brands represented.
