supersonic airliner Logos and Brands
Civilian aircraft capable of breaking the sound barrier are part of the Supersonic Airliner section. Concorde, a joint project between British Airways and Air France, flew at a speed of 2,180 km/h (Mach 2.04) and crossed the Atlantic in three and a half hours before being decommissioned in 2003. The Tu-144, Concorde’s Soviet competitor, operated commercial flights for only two years (1977-1978). Modern startups Boom Supersonic (with the XB-1 prototype) and Aerion (closed in 2021) attempted to revive supersonic passenger aviation. Boom promises to unveil Overture, designed for 65-80 passengers and a speed of Mach 1.7, by the end of the decade. This section collects visual symbols of programs and companies working to return humanity to faster-than-sound flight.
