Woori Financial Group Logo PNG
Financial services include banking, loans, investments, and asset management that support daily tasks and business operations. The banking group brings together various divisions under a single structure. The Woori Financial Group logo is associated with a South Korean financial group that provides services to private clients and companies, including banking services and investment products.
Woori Financial Group traces its history back to 1899, when Daehancheonil Bank was founded as the first commercial bank established with Korean capital. During the Japanese occupation from 1910 to 1945, the bank continued its operations. After Korea’s liberation in 1945, it helped rebuild the country’s economy.
During the Korean War of 1950, the nation’s banking system was destroyed. Daehancheonil Bank resumed operations after the end of hostilities. In 1962, the bank was nationalized and renamed Hanil Bank. It became one of the government’s tools for industrialization.
In the 1980s, Hanil Bank provided loans to large industrial groups and expanded its branch network. The financial crisis of 1997–1998 forced the government to begin consolidating the banking sector. In 1999, Hanil Bank merged with the Commercial Bank of Korea, creating Hanvit Bank.
In 2001, Hanvit Bank, Korea First Bank, Kyongnam Bank, and Peace Bank were merged into Woori Bank. Control of the bank passed to the state-owned KDIC fund. That same year, Woori Finance Holdings was established to oversee banking and investment assets.
In 2002, the holding company acquired Kyungnam Bank. In 2005, it listed its shares on the Korea Exchange. During the global financial crisis of 2007 and 2008, the group continued to operate with government support.
In 2014 and 2015, attempts at full privatization were unsuccessful. In 2016, the holding company adopted the new name Woori Financial Group. This reflected the expansion and diversification of its business areas. In 2017, a consortium of private investors led by Vogo Fund acquired a controlling stake for 3.4 trillion won, completing the privatization process.
Starting in 2018, it began international expansion. The company entered the Vietnamese and Indonesian markets. In 2019, Woori Bank acquired SBI Savings Bank. In 2020 and 2021, the group implemented a next-generation digital platform. In 2022, it purchased a stake in Cambodia’s Sathapana Bank.
In 2023, the company’s profits grew amid rising interest rates. In 2024, blockchain services for international money transfers were introduced.
Woori Financial Group managed assets exceeding 400 trillion won. The company ranked among the five largest financial holdings in South Korea.

2019 – today
The blue circle in the Woori Financial Group logo connects the history of Korean banking with the idea of a shared future. The inner arcs resemble the sun above the horizon, while the enclosed outline represents people coming together. The Korean word 우리 translates as “we,” “our,” or “ours.” In everyday speech, it is associated with family, community, and shared responsibility.
The group’s history began in 1899 with the opening of Daehancheonil Bank, the first commercial bank established with Korean capital. It later became a predecessor of the Commercial Bank of Korea. Woori Finance Group was formed in April 2001, bringing together Hanvit Bank, Peace Bank, Kwangju Bank, Kyongnam Bank, Hanaro Investment Banking, and other financial institutions. Following a business restructuring in 2019, the holding company Woori Financial Group Inc. began operations.
The emblem is based on the image of a sunrise. The upper arc resembles a rising sun, while the lower one suggests the horizon. Two curved sections appear inside the circle. The upper section is light blue, while the lower section creates a white area near the center. The combination of dark blue, light blue, and white depicts a sunrise through color and form.
The circle is connected to the meaning of Woori. In Korean speech, 우리 frequently appears in expressions such as “our home,” “our child,” and “our community.” These expressions convey closeness among people and participation in a shared undertaking. The enclosed outline unites the inner parts of the image. At the same time, the upward-facing arcs resemble the beginning of a new day.
The name appears in two lines. WOORI is written at the top in large uppercase letters, while the smaller words FINANCIAL GROUP appear below. Both lines use a blue italic sans-serif typeface resembling Helvetica or Arial. In the horizontal version, the circle appears to the left of the wordmark. In the vertical version, it appears above the text.
In 2021, the company updated its brand and introduced the slogan “We Change For Us.” The phrase connected change with the interests of customers, society, and future generations. The circle and sunrise continued to represent unity and a new period in the financial group’s operations.
