Bedrock Learning has introduced an updated brand style and logo developed by the studio Thisaway. The project aims to strengthen the brand’s position in the education technology sector and clearly articulate the company’s mission. Literacy is a fundamental foundation of learning that shapes a student’s success across domains.
The previous visual identity looked typical for the EdTech market. The logo featured soft, rounded forms, and the mark was built from layered shapes referencing rock and upward growth. Supporting stripes echoed the symbol’s motif. Combined with generic illustrations, the style felt ordinary and failed to distinguish the brand from its competitors.
The Bedrock Learning team works from the idea that developing literacy opens the door to academic and life achievements for students. The platform is grounded in research and modern teaching methods, helping educators improve student skills. However, the brand previously lacked focus in its communications. Messages felt fragmented, and the product’s value was difficult to grasp.
Thisaway proposed the concept of “Liberation in Learning.” The approach highlights the role of literacy and brings the brand closer to educators. At the core is a blend of technological capability with an understanding of the school environment and how children absorb knowledge. The tone of communication became softer and more human without diluting the meaning.
The logo uses the Sora Extra Bold typeface. It suits an educational product designed for schools. The letterforms feel friendly and calm, while unconventional connections add individuality. The typeface balances familiar educational cues with a contemporary tech sensibility.
The new symbol brings together several images. It can be read as a bird, a book, and the letter B. Despite the literal meaning of “bedrock” as “foundation,” the designers moved away from a structural interpretation and chose a more abstract approach. The elements merge into a unified form, serving as a metaphor for growth and freedom in learning. The sense of rigidity was removed, resulting in a mark that feels light, lively, and adaptable across different applications.
Thisaway built a cohesive system where literacy, freedom, and technology work together. The brand is no longer perceived as just another digital service but as a partner for teachers, one that understands real classroom challenges and shares the goal of unlocking every child’s potential.
