2012 – 2015
The DraftKings logo is built on the interplay of contrasts between the symbol and the massive typography, creating an atmosphere of competitiveness and energy. At the center of attention is a crown placed above the letter D. Its five sharp points, of varying heights, create a rising line, with the central peak the highest and the side ones lower, producing the effect of upward movement and intensification. The crown’s dominant color is orange, evoking excitement and emotional tension. A gradient shifting from light to dark zones adds depth and a sense of glare.
The inscription is divided into two levels. At the top is the word DRAFT, rendered in a rich green. The gradient enhances associations with the playing field and monetary winnings, since green is commonly associated with money and sports. The lower line contains the word, KINGS. It is executed in a white-gray gradient, creating an illusion of three-dimensionality. The letter K includes a decorative element in the form of a lower curl extending to the right and forming an arc-shaped loop, which adds dynamism and a striking accent.
The font is massive, with serifs and an outline stroke. The letter lines are dense, conveying weight and monumentality. 2015 – today
The revised DraftKings logo showed a course toward simplification and disciplined form. The first changes affected the letter K, with the lower decorative curl removed, altering the perception of the word “Kings”. While earlier it conveyed playful lightness, the new version emphasizes strict geometry and a straighter silhouette.
In the word ‘Draft’, a vertical gradient was applied, ranging from light green at the top to rich green at the bottom. It enhances the association with the sports field and monetary winnings, but unlike the previous version, the lines are evenly distributed and appear neat. A similar system is used for the word “Kings,” where shades range from light to dark gray, maintaining overall volume and providing the text with visual relief.
The crown above the letter D was enlarged. The emphasis on leadership was heightened. The intensity of the orange increased, with stronger transitions between shades, demonstrating emotional expressiveness. The outline of the composition was executed more strictly, with straight lines, no curves or protrusions.
The set of shades remained the same. Green continues to mark the sports sphere and financial context; orange is associated with excitement and the pursuit of victory. Gray and white establish precision and transparency, and black serves as the contrasting background. However, the new version appears more refined and balanced than the previous one, thanks to the removal of decorative excess.
The logo retained all the key associations with excitement and the sports theme, but now appears more disciplined.
