However, the structure and style of the visual identity have been updated, so the bird now appears assertive, determined, active, and charismatic, whereas it previously had a neutral appearance.
The bald eagle has thrust its claws forward, extending its talons to convey its restless, serious nature. Its left-turned head also indicates this with an open beak. The spread wings and broad tail show that the bird of prey is in flight and actively hunting for… knowledge. Yes, in the school’s interpretation, it cannot hunt anything else. At the same time, the bird can call students to class, as the open beak undoubtedly emits a loud screech.
On the eagle’s chest is a badge, a four-sided shield with the inscription “BHS,” an abbreviation for “Bell High School.” The letters are styled provocatively in italics and are surrounded by feathers and tufts flying in all directions. This way, the designers illustrated the restless age of the students, for whom the school finds an individual approach, always considering their abilities and offering them freedom of choice. Some glyphs have cut-off strokes. Two more inscriptions are located on the circular frame:
- “Est. 1925” at the top;
- “Bell Senior High School” at the bottom.
Both texts are in an arc shape but do not meet, as wings, frozen in mid-flap, separate them. The school’s motto now proudly appears above the fierce bird’s head. The new version of the emblem does not resemble a roundel at all: it has a wide center and a very narrow frame.
The key elements have thin outlines for maximum clarity: the eagle has a black outline, the frame is yellow, and the shield is purple. Speaking of the palette, it’s worth noting that the color scheme has been supplemented with gray. The other colors remained, except for blue, which has completely disappeared from the logo. Together, they represent openness, curiosity, a thirst for knowledge, perfection, elitism, creativity, leadership, and spirituality.
