Meaning and History
What is Polkadot?
This is a next-generation blockchain platform designed to enable interaction between different blockchain networks. It functions as a multichain network, enabling data exchange and parallel processing of transactions across chains that previously could not interact. It consists of parallel chains, called parachains, each optimized for its purpose, and a relay chain that coordinates the entire system. The platform’s main goal is to improve interoperability and address scalability issues in the blockchain ecosystem. The network’s native cryptocurrency, DOT, is used for staking, governance, and network security.
