For its 2026 edition, Quai 54 traded its racing theme for a mix of 1990s rave culture and Parisian art. Alexander Wise and agency 360 Creative created an angular logo in a black-and-purple frame for the international street basketball tournament. The identity appeared throughout the July 10–12 event, continuing Quai 54’s tradition of annual redesigns.
The tournament takes its name from its original location at 54 quai Michelet in Levallois-Perret. The French word “quai” means “quay,” and 54 is the street number. Hammadoun Sidibé and Thibaut de Longeville founded the tournament in 2003, bringing together basketball, hip-hop, and urban culture. The 2026 program featured 16 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams competing in five-on-five games, along with a dunk contest, concerts, DJ sets, and the Quai 54 Futures youth competition.
Wise handled art direction and design, Thibaut de Longeville served as creative director, and 360 Creative supported the project as the agency. The team needed a logo that would work on player uniforms, screens, and arena signage. Jordan Brand was the apparel and footwear partner. Wise worked with its team to adapt the identity for the seasonal collection.
In 2025, Quai 54 adopted a motorsports theme inspired by Michael Jordan’s interest in racing and France’s racing heritage. The logo featured slanted lettering, with yellow and red used throughout the identity. One version placed a black Quai54 wordmark on a yellow background, with basketball seams running through the “Q.” A red Jumpman appeared on a black panel to the right, above the tagline WORLD STREETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP. Another version used red-and-black panels with oversized lettering.
In the 2026 version, the lettering is upright. White QUAI lettering fills the black section of the frame, while the number 54 sits on a purple background to the right. Clipped corners give the overall shape an elongated octagonal plaque. A white border runs around the edge, enclosed by a black outline. The two color fields separate the name and number within a single frame.
Wise drew custom lettering for the tournament name, coordinating the stroke weights, proportions, and diagonal cuts across the letters and numbers. The “Q” has an octagonal outer contour and a rounded inner counter. Its detached tail sits below and to the right. The “U” has clipped lower corners, while the “A” has a flat top and a crossbar with angled ends. The “I” consists of a single vertical stroke. In the “5,” long horizontal strokes connect through diagonal transitions, while the “4” has an open top. Rounded interior corners soften the angular lettering. Using “54” as a starting point, the team developed the remaining numerals for player jerseys.
Purple and bright Volt green reference 1990s club culture. The black-and-white stripes draw on Daniel Buren’s Les Deux Plateaux installation in the courtyard of the Palais-Royal in Paris, connecting the music theme with art from the tournament’s host city. Stripes covered the court and the surrounding surfaces. The season’s colors carried over to the Jordan x Quai 54 collection, including the Air Jordan 1 Low, Air Jordan XI Low IE, T-shirts, and hoodies.
Just hours before play began, extreme heat forced organizers to move the tournament from its location near the Eiffel Tower to Clichy Hall. The existing designs had to adapt to an indoor arena. A modular system allowed the team to apply the identity across the court, LED screens, and directional signage while keeping the black-and-white stripes and seasonal colors.
