RPM International Logo

RPM International grew from Republic Powdered Metals, a business Frank C. Sullivan launched in May 1947. Its first product was Alumanation aluminum roof coating. The old company name survives in the RPM abbreviation. RPM, Inc. was later formed in 1971 to acquire companies in the paint and coatings industry.

Shares of RPM, Inc. began trading on NASDAQ in 1971 under the ticker symbol RPOW. The brand later adopted its current name, RPM International Inc. Group materials use the spelling International Inc. without a comma. The full name in the logo connects the short abbreviation with the company’s international scale.

The logo features large RPM letters on the left and a text block on the right. The initials appear in blue using a stylized geometric typeface. A line runs below the letters. It begins at the right side of the “R”. It continues beneath the “P” and “M,” joining the abbreviation into a unified form.

The blue RPM International Inc. inscription appears on the right. The words use a formal sans-serif typeface resembling Helvetica or Arial. RPM is written in uppercase letters, while International Inc. uses uppercase initials. Below it is the slogan “A world leader in specialty coatings and sealants.” It appears in black italics with a rightward slant.

The logo’s primary color is identified as dark blue PMS 281. The print specifications are CMYK 100/89/31/30, RGB 0/31/91, and HEX #002663, while the web specification is HEX #003976. Approved versions include dark blue, black, and white. RPM also uses The Value of 168 marker. It refers to an idea from Frank C. Sullivan in which 168 represents the number of hours in a week. According to the brand guidelines, the marker is primarily intended for internal audiences.
