SJCAM: Brand overview

SJCAM, which appeared on the technology scene in 2014, was launched by its parent company, Shenzhen Zhencheng Technology Co. SJCAM made its debut with the SJ4000 action camera, which was initially aimed at price competitors like GoPro. This entry-level device had many of the same features as GoPro’s Hero 3+ but cost much less, which quickly attracted price-sensitive buyers.

Year after year, the company didn’t rest on its laurels but innovated relentlessly. They improved their line of action cameras and ventured into other filming devices, from dashboard-mounted car cameras to home security systems. Advanced features like 4K video resolution, built-in WiFi, and dual-display capability have become an integral part of their devices.

By the time 2018 rolled around, SJCAM had already distributed over one million action cameras worldwide and made their products available in over 60 countries. These achievements have cemented the brand’s reputation as a leader in the budget action camera market.

The company continues to produce multi-functional action cameras that do not cost a lot of money. The latest innovation is the 2021 SJ9 Strike model. Despite its competitive price, this model promises performance comparable to its more expensive counterparts. SJCAM has evolved from a GoPro emulator to a brand with its own unique personality and loyal audience, especially among those looking for quality cameras without a high price tag.

Meaning and History

SJCAM Logo History

2014 – today

The SJCAM logo has a few signature features that make it conceptual. First, it’s a white letter “A” inside a red circle. This hints at the camera lens, as the Chinese company specializes in camera manufacturing. The letter is so large that it extends beyond the background, blending into the surrounding space. Second is the unique letter “J,” with no topstroke and a shortened curve. The letter “M” also draws attention with its short middle. The text uses capital letters colored in black.

The white letter “A” in a red circle shouts to all camera lovers: “Look, we are all about cameras!”. The oversized letter “A” creates the feeling that the brand is breaking the boundaries, going beyond the usual. Special letters “J” and “M” seem to wink, saying that the brand is different in a good way. The black color is simple, with no frills.
