Financial transactions in Thailand are increasingly conducted through mobile apps and digital services, with payments, deposits, and loans integrated into a single system. Banking products are designed around convenient access and simplified interactions. The TMB Thanachart Bank logo is associated with the bank formed by the merger of two institutions and offers retail services, including accounts, loans, and digital services.
TMB Thanachart Bank was formed through the merger of two major Thai banks with different backgrounds. Thai Military Bank was established in 1957. It initially served the personnel of the Royal Thai Armed Forces. In the following decades, the bank expanded its operations and began working with civilian clients as well as the corporate sector.
The 1997 financial crisis brought Thai Military Bank to the brink of bankruptcy. In 1998, the government nationalized the bank and became its main shareholder. In 2005, half of the shares were sold to a consortium led by ING Group. This accelerated modernization and the development of retail banking. In 2013, ING exited the capital, and control of the bank returned to the state.
Thanachart Bank began operations in 1954 as a finance company specializing in auto loans. In 2002, it obtained a banking license and, within a short period, became one of the largest private banks in Thailand. Thanachart secured a strong position in the retail segment.
In 2017, the Ministry of Finance proposed merging TMB and Thanachart to strengthen the national banking system. In November 2019, the merger was completed. The new entity was named TMB Thanachart Bank, or TTB. At the time of the merger, total assets exceeded two trillion baht. The bank’s network included about nine hundred branches.
After the merger, a large-scale integration of systems and services was carried out. In 2020, the bank faced an increase in non-performing loans. That same year, a temporary payment deferral program for clients was introduced. In 2021, the digital service TTB Touch was launched. In 2023, the main phase of technological integration was completed.
In 2024, the bank began developing development-linked lending and cooperation with fintech companies.
TMB Thanachart Bank remains one of Thailand’s largest commercial banks. It serves retail, corporate, and small business clients under the TTB brand.

2019 – 2021
The transitional TMB and Thanachart Bank logo appeared during the merger of the two banks. Before a shared emblem was developed, they used a rectangular block divided into two equal sections. The light blue half represented the first bank, while the orange half represented the second.
The transaction was completed in late 2019. The integration of banking operations continued until July 2021. Throughout the transitional period, customers saw the familiar names and former emblems combined within one block.
The left side featured a white inscription made up of three uppercase letters against a light blue background. It used a bold sans-serif style. Two white circles appeared above the middle letter. This treatment had been introduced during the 2005 rebranding, when the bank adopted the English name TMB Bank. The previous emblem combined red and blue, while the merged version used white letters.
The right section retained the Thanachart Bank identity against an orange background. An emblem resembling the letter “T” appeared at the top. Its upper section looked like a wing or slanted leaf, while the lower section had oval contours. The Thai name and an English inscription in a rounded white typeface appeared below.
The equal halves represented both banks’ participation in the merger. Light blue referred to one side, while orange maintained the connection with the other. Orange later became part of ttb’s identity.
2021 – today
The ttb brand was introduced on May 7, 2021, during the merger of TMB Bank and Thanachart Bank. The integration of their banking operations was completed in July 2021. After the process ended, a shared name replaced the former brands.
The abbreviated form combines the names of the two parties to the merger. The first letter “t” refers to TMB, the second “t” refers to Thanachart, and the letter “b” comes from “bank.” The compact name retained a connection to both banks while shortening the corporate designation. The bank’s Thai name and the English form TMBThanachart appear beside the logo.
The international agency Superunion developed the identity in collaboration with its Thai division. The designers used lowercase letters with rounded forms. The first “t” is blue, the second “t” is orange, and the “b” uses a dark navy shade. The touching characters form a unified wordmark.
The color scheme retained connections to the former banks. Blue came from TMB, while orange came from Thanachart. The updated shades were named Confident Blue, Refreshing Orange, and Trusted Navy. The white background was named Honest White.
