University Health Network Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

University Health Network Logo New

UHN is entering a new stage of development and has introduced an updated brand that conveys national pride and underscores its status as Canada’s leading hospital. The key symbol is a red maple leaf, and the slogan positions the organization as “Canada’s Hospital.”

UHN President and CEO Dr. Kevin Smith noted the significance of the moment, emphasizing that being the country’s primary hospital carries both privilege and great responsibility, which the team embraces with full commitment and dedication. He emphasized that UHN’s legacy is tied to innovation, education, and a high standard of medical care, and that a drive for progress has accompanied the organization throughout its history.

Work on the new image took several months. A team led by Kayla Kumar, UHN Vice President of Communications and Brand Strategy, engaged in dialogue with representatives of clinical practice, education, and research, as well as foundation leaders. The updated brand demonstrates the close connection between all areas of the organization’s work, bringing together medical practice, scientific discovery, and the training of future healthcare leaders.

The visual changes are most evident in the logo. Previously, the mark featured gold shapes surrounding the UHN abbreviation, and the slogan positioned the organization as “Canada’s No. 1 Hospital.” In the current version, the abbreviation and slogan are rendered in blue. Combined with the red maple leaf, this conveys the institution’s national identity and pan-Canadian status.

According to Kayla Kumar, the updated style helps communicate UHN’s mission across all interactions, from clinical settings to virtual channels. All elements of the visual design convey strength and the scale of the organization’s ambitions, whose work influences the development of medicine in Canada and beyond every day.
