Warburtons Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

Warburtons Logo New

“Warburtons” updated its brand identity for its 150th anniversary. The British bakery company traces its history back to 1876. In Bolton, Thomas and Ellen Warburton baked their first batch of 4 loaves and 6 cakes, which sold in less than an hour at a grocery store. Today, the company remains a fifth-generation family business based in Bolton. It operates 11 bakeries, 16 depots, nearly 1,000 vehicles, and supplies products to 18,500 stores.

“Taxi Studio” and “Studio DRAMA” updated the identity and packaging for a large “Warburtons” lineup, including bread, crumpets, rolls, and other bakery products. The work covered a portfolio of more than 70 items. The brand did not abandon its previous image, but carefully brought it into a unified shelf system.

Warburtons Logo Evolution

The logo kept the arched shape and orange color familiar from the 2010 version by “Smith & Milton.” The new work focused on the proportions, spacing, and details of the wordmark. The final “s” closes the name better, while the “rb” and “rt” ligatures received softer joins. The ascenders became taller, so the lettering looks more composed on the packaging.

Orange became the brand’s main marker. In the system, it was named “Baked Orange” and refers to the “Warburtons” vans familiar to British shoppers. On the packaging, the color unites different product lines and connects bread, rolls, crumpets, and other items with one company.

Warburtons Logo Old

The “Family Seal of Quality” received a separate role. The round mark with Jonathan Warburton’s signature brings the brand’s family origins into the present day. For “Warburtons,” it works as a reminder of a long baking tradition and the family name.

“Studio DRAMA” developed a custom “Warburtons” type family. It has soft, full forms, references to baked goods, and a more disciplined structure for packaging, body copy, and headlines. The family includes condensed styles for limited space, text styles for information blocks, and large display cuts for product names.

Warburtons Symbol

The new “Warburtons” identity unifies the old style into a single system and strengthens the logo. For shoppers, the brand remains familiar, while on the shelf, it looks more cohesive and better organized across the large range.
