YUV® Beauty, founded in 2023, is a BeautyTech company focused on transforming the hair industry with innovation and sustainability. Based in London, they introduced the YUV® Lab, the first smart hair color lab for salons and freelancers. This Lab offers custom hair color formulations with refillable cartridges, promoting an eco-friendly approach.

The brand’s identity includes a wordmark and an emblem. “YUV®” stands for “Your Unlimited Vision,” referencing the YUV color model, where “Y” represents brightness and “UV” represents hue. The name plays on “you’ve,” as in “YUV® got creativity.” The logotype is minimalist, with angular “Y” and “V” contrasting with the rounded “U,” symbolizing precision and user-friendly design. The “U” resembles a colorist’s bowl, grounding the design in the hair industry.

The emblem, representing the initial “Y,” features a dotted design inspired by the Lab cartridges. This emblem is versatile and used in various media where the full logo isn’t suitable. Sharp Grotesk in lighter weights is used for typography, ensuring a clean, modern look that pairs well with the icon set.

The color palette includes neutral grays, blacks, and silvers, accented with vibrant colors on the cartridge tops. This highlights the Lab’s innovative nature. The black and silver enhance the machine’s sleek, professional appearance.

Packaging is both functional and stylish. Each refillable cartridge addresses different hair coloring needs, promoting sustainability and innovation. The packaging uses the brand’s color palette and minimalist design, standing out on salon shelves.

Graphéine, the design agency, defined two photography principles. One shows models against neutral gray backgrounds to highlight their vibrant hairstyles. The other focuses on professionals using the Lab, showcasing the technology in action. These images demonstrate the results and the ease of using YUV® products.

3D isometric illustrations were created to explain the Lab’s technical aspects. These are used in ads and instructional booklets, making the machine’s benefits clear.

The brand identity aims for a light, airy aesthetic, creating a professional yet approachable image. A secondary icon, a monogram of four dots forming an abstract “Y,” enhances brand recall and adds a distinctive touch. Animated, this icon leaves trails of color, mimicking the mixing process of hair color formulations.

The branding includes playful variations on the phrase “you’ve got…” reinforcing the name’s pronunciation and the brand’s innovative tone. This thoughtful branding approach ensures YUV® Beauty stands out in the competitive BeautyTech industry.
