Anna von Lipa is a Danish brand inspired by the traditions of Bohemian glassmaking. Designer Jytte Correll founded the company after her impressive trip to Prague, where she admired the craftsmanship of Czech glassblowers. Starting as a small workshop in Denmark, the brand later moved to a historical glass factory in the Czech town of Nový Bor. As a result, Anna von Lipa’s products combine ancient techniques with Scandinavian minimalist design, offering exquisite vases, glasses, decanters, and decorative home accessories.

The brand’s old logo included stylized graphics with decorative patterns reminiscent of the crystal surface of its products. While such graphics reflected the brand’s aesthetics, the details lost clarity when scaled down. The font felt strict and more suitable for a fashion house than a home decor brand.

In the updated logo by the studio L-AB, designers reimagined the previous ornament. Now simplified into a compact diamond with concise shapes, it simultaneously resembles decorative elements of glass products and creates a more universal image. The new graphic symbol is easier to use at smaller sizes and across various communication channels, although its minimalist structure has lost some associations with the artistic refinement of Bohemian glass.

The wordmark uses the Söhne typeface with soft and expressive letter contours. This gives the logo clarity, making it approachable and modern. Despite the simplicity of the typeface, it features a distinctive detail, a diamond-shaped dot above the letter “i,” hinting at the brand’s signature ornament.

However, the real highlight of the rebranding is an additional symbol based on the previous patterned graphics. It elegantly incorporates the letters “X” and “O,” reflecting the craftsmanship of the products. Perhaps this symbol would have worked better as the main logo, but the designers kept it as a supplementary element, preserving its exclusively decorative role.

The new Anna von Lipa logo represents a functional balance between brand heritage and practical use. Although simplified, it retains elegance and recognizability suited to a brand that creates objects pleasing to the eye.
